Look III
This monumental sculpture by Antony Gormley titled Look III is composed of interlocking geometric planes of solid cast iron that assemble into an upright human figure. The blocky cubic forms create a pixelated, abstracted silhouette that simultaneously conveys immense physical weight and a surprising sense of equilibrium and balance. Gormley is internationally renowned for his sustained investigation of the human body as a site of memory, identity, and spatial consciousness, and Look III exemplifies these themes at an imposing outdoor scale. The work is installed on the grounds of Donum Estate in the Carneros wine region of California.
