Pathology Loop #1 (2019–2021) is a 1/1 from Iain Ball’s Pathology Loop series. The work assembles a hyper-dense digital collage where anime characters, fragmented maps, alien entities, glowing orbs, black projects, symbolic objects, and layered web imagery collapse into a single frame of terminal online residue. Pathology Loop functions as fossilised digital detritus — fragments of web imagery, cultural oversaturation, and algorithmic decay that remain after meaning and utility have eroded. These pieces reframe art itself as the byproduct of a hyperconnected civilisation in decline.

Harm van den Berg
Dutch · b. 1978
Harm van den Berg creates hyper dense digital collages that layer internet imagery, anime fragments, and web detritus into overwhelmingly saturated single compositions, directly mirroring Ball's approach of compressing online cultural residue into a fossilised frame.
Nicolas Sassoon
French · b. 1981
Sassoon works with digital pattern and screen based imagery that evokes algorithmic decay and the visual language of early internet culture, sharing Ball's interest in the terminal aesthetics of digital systems collapsing under their own accumulated data.

Jon Rafman
Canadian · b. 1981

Rafman assembles fragmented web imagery, alien entities, anime characters, and symbolic online artefacts into dense multimedia works exploring cultural oversaturation and the psychological residue of internet immersion, qualities that are central to Ball's Pathology Loop series.
