Perimeter

2026

A monumental two panel work depicting a mountainous landscape viewed through chain link fencing, rendered entirely in bleached and collaged denim. The composition presents a serene Alpine valley with snow capped peaks, a lake, and scattered buildings, all rendered in tonal blues and whites created through careful arrangement and layering of denim fragments. The chain link overlay creates a visual boundary between viewer and landscape, introducing themes of access, containment, and perspective that complicate the pastoral subject matter. The materiality of denim, traditionally associated with working class labor and Americana, transforms both the Alpine scenery and the industrial fence into a meditation on how we perceive and frame natural and constructed spaces. The work exemplifies Doyle's practice of building sculptural narratives through textile collage and found material assemblage.
