Articles of Faith

2026

This sculptural assemblage presents a keychain laden with talismanic objects arranged in a symmetrical, almost heraldic composition. Rendered primarily in bleached and collaged denim tones, the work centers on an actual key beneath a circular medallion depicting a planet ringed in stars. Surrounding this axis are tarot and divination imagery: The Moon card, a playing card suit, a magic 8-ball, and a stylized eye with radiating lashes. The palette oscillates between pale blue, navy, black, and white, creating visual rhythm across the densely layered surface. Characteristic of Doyle's practice, the work conflates working class utility with occult and folk symbolism, transforming a humble keychain into a contemporary reliquary that examines belief systems and collective mythology.
