"PixCell Deer #10" is a mixed media sculpture by Japanese artist Kohei Nawa that transforms a taxidermied deer head through the application of thousands of iridescent glass beads that obscure and pixelate its surface. The glass beads refract light and create an ethereal, almost digital quality that contrasts sharply with the taxidermied animal form beneath, exploring themes of nature, technology, and visual perception. Nawa's PixCell series uses this distinctive technique to examine how contemporary digital imagery and material reality intersect and inform one another.
