A monumental meditation on the passage of time, this work belongs to Opałka's lifelong project in which he methodically painted consecutive numbers by hand, beginning with 1 in 1965 and continuing until his death. Tiny white numerals are applied in dense, horizontal rows against a grey background, creating a texture that resembles both the fabric of time and the rhythm of a heartbeat. The sheer accumulation of counted moments transforms an act of obsessive repetition into a profound and quietly haunting contemplation of mortality.
