A raw and elemental assemblage, this work by Fluxus artist Al Hansen features matches arranged upon the rough, industrial surface of particle board. The juxtaposition of the humble, utilitarian objects against the coarse manufactured material evokes themes of potential energy, destruction, and everyday transience.
