Suzanne Jackson (born 1944) is an American multidisciplinary artist, poet, and dancer whose vibrant, large-scale paintings are characterized by layered acrylic and mixed media that create luminous, translucent surfaces often suspended or hung without traditional stretcher bars. Active since the 1960s, she was a pioneering figure in the Los Angeles Black arts community and founded the influential Gallery 32 in Los Angeles in 1968, which showcased work by Black artists during the civil rights era. Her work has experienced significant critical rediscovery and institutional recognition in recent decades, with her paintings entering major museum collections and commanding attention at leading auction houses.
