Marvin E. Newman (1927, 2022) was an American photographer celebrated for his dynamic street photography and sports imagery, particularly his iconic coverage of the Chicago Bears and the NFL in the 1950s. A graduate of the Institute of Design in Chicago, where he studied under Harry Callahan and Aaron Siskind, Newman brought a painterly eye and formal rigor to documentary and commercial photography. His work is held in major collections including the Museum of Modern Art and the Art Institute of Chicago, and he is recognized as a pioneering figure in American postwar photography.
