Walead Beshty's work consists of a copper form that has been shipped internationally via FedEx, accumulating cracks, dents, and deformations as a direct result of its journey through commercial transit systems. The piece embodies the physical traces of its own travel history, with the damage inflicted during shipping between Los Angeles, London, and Zurich becoming the artwork itself. By using the logistics of global commerce as both process and subject, Beshty transforms the art transportation system into a sculptural collaborator.
