Untitled (Refraction Wall)
2025
Richard Twedt's Untitled (Refraction Wall) is a sculptural installation consisting of crystals housed within a long plexi-glass box that projects intricate, fractured light patterns across the surrounding surfaces when illuminated. The work transforms its environment through the physics of refraction, dissolving the boundary between object and atmosphere in a quietly spectacular display. Measuring 3 by 48 by 6 inches, the slender horizontal format emphasizes the horizonal sweep of light dispersion, connecting to the exhibition's broader investigation of light and atmosphere. This unique work was presented in the Front Gallery of The Elemental's group exhibition Fractured Horizon: Explorations in Light and Atmosphere.
