Mai Trung Thứ was a fellow Vietnamese artist trained at the École des Beaux-Arts de l'Indochine who similarly blended Eastern sensibilities with Western techniques in elegant figurative portraits of women surrounded by floral elements. His silk and oil paintings share the same graceful, refined aesthetic and East-West fusion that defines this work by Lê Phổ.

Vu Cao Dam was a close contemporary of Lê Phổ and part of the same Paris School circle of Vietnamese artists who painted lyrical figurative works featuring women with flowers rendered in a harmonious blend of French Impressionist and traditional Vietnamese visual culture.
