Le Perforateur
1963
A kinetic sculpture composed of welded iron, painted rubber, nuts, and bolts, *Le Perforateur* is set into chaotic, rhythmic motion by an electric motor, embodying Tinguely's fascination with movement, machines, and the absurdity of mechanical function. The work celebrates the beauty of industrial materials repurposed into a whirring, clattering performance, blurring the line between art object and living contraption. True to Tinguely's anti-static philosophy, the sculpture exists most fully not as a static form but as an event unfolding in time.
