Grabmal
1999
A monumental yet austere sculptural work, *Grabmal* presents three imposing forms constructed from painted breeze blocks, plaster, and concrete, evoking the weight and silence of funerary architecture. Schneider transforms humble industrial materials into something profoundly loaded with psychological and existential tension, the tomb-like structures suggesting enclosure, burial, and the architecture of death. The rawness of the construction materials remains palpable beneath their painted surfaces, reinforcing the artist's characteristic blurring of the domestic, the institutional, and the sepulchral.
