A sardonic meditation on desire and consumption, Daniel Spoerri arranges condoms, their packaging, a metal object, and an elastic band onto a canvas slicked with oil, blurring the boundary between sculptural assemblage and painting. True to his Eat Art sensibilities and the broader Fluxus spirit, Spoerri transforms discarded or intimate everyday objects into a frozen tableau that is both humorous and unsettling.
