Varengeville: seven impressions
Created by the pioneering Cubist master Georges Braque, *Varengeville: Seven Impressions* is a suite of prints that draws inspiration from the Normandy coastal village where the artist spent much of his later life. This rare set comprises six sequentially numbered state proofs and a "bon à tirer" (good-to-print) proof — the definitive reference impression approved by the artist — bearing his initials and annotation in pencil. Printed by the prestigious Atelier Crommelynck and published by Maeght in Paris in an edition of 300, the suite represents an intimate record of Braque's printmaking process and his enduring connection to the landscape of Varengeville.
