Natural History Part I: Mushrooms
1974
This extraordinary mixed media print by Cy Twombly combines lithograph, grano-lithograph, collotype, photochrome, paper collage, and crayon on Rives Couronne paper, creating a richly layered composition featuring botanical mushroom illustrations, photographic forest imagery, color reference strips, and Twombly's signature gestural crayon markings. Edited in 1974 as part of a limited edition of 98 copies, this example is numbered 32/98 in the lower left corner and hand signed by the artist in pencil in the lower right corner. The work is in very good condition with only slight discoloration at the top center caused by adhesive tape on the verso. It is catalogued in Heiner Bastian's CY TWOMBLY Das graphische werk 1953 to 1984: The printed graphic work, page 75, reference 46, and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and a copy of the reference catalogue.
