Ryman was a Minimalist painter who explored the material properties of white paint across six decades of practice. His experimental approach investigated texture, surface, support, and installation methods, with works ranging from small panels to large-scale paintings. His work is extensively collected by MoMA, the Guggenheim, and Dia Art Foundation.
