Julian Stanczak

Julian Stanczak (1928, 2017) was a Polish-born American painter widely regarded as a pioneer of Op Art, a movement exploring optical illusions and visual perception through geometric abstraction. His precisely engineered compositions of lines, grids, and color interactions create dynamic sensations of movement, vibration, and depth on the canvas. Stanczak studied under Josef Albers at Yale University, an influence that profoundly shaped his lifelong investigation into the psychological and physiological effects of color relationships.
