Jane Piper (1916, 1991) was an American painter known for her vibrant, color-saturated still lifes and figure paintings rooted in the Post-Impressionist tradition. A devoted student of Hans Hofmann and later a close associate of Henri Matisse's influence through her teacher, she spent much of her career teaching at the Philadelphia College of Art, where she became a beloved and influential figure. Her work is celebrated for its joyful use of color and light, bridging the legacy of early modernism with mid-to-late 20th-century American painting.
