Epson Ultra Chrome on linen
2006
Wade Guyton's 2006 work challenges traditional notions of painting by using an Epson inkjet printer to apply UltraChrome pigment ink directly onto raw linen. The resulting surface bears the mechanical traces of the printing process, including streaks, repetitions, and imperfections that expose the tension between digital production and handmade material. Guyton's practice interrogates authorship and originality by positioning the printer itself as a primary artistic tool.
