Extra-Ordinary – Late Summer
2026
A misty landscape emerges through layers of soft, atmospheric haze in this large scale painting. A prominent weeping willow in the foreground anchors the composition, its drooping form rendered in luminous greens that contrast gently against the pale sky. Behind it, a body of water and distant tree line dissolve into fog, creating a sense of spatial recession through subtle shifts in color and definition. The work employs acrylic and polyester fiber on canvas to achieve a dreamlike quality, blurring the boundary between representation and abstraction. Rhee's practice engages with the romantic tradition of landscape painting while employing contemporary materials to create an ethereal, contemplative vision of nature.
