Ponte Sant'Angelo, Wrapped, Project for Rome
A monumental vision for one of Rome's most iconic bridges, this work presents Christo and Jeanne-Claude's ambitious proposal to envelop the historic Ponte Sant'Angelo in sweeping fabric, transforming the ancient structure into a ghostly, sculptural form. The mixed-media composition layers screenprinted colour with actual fabric and twine collage, pencil and felt-pen markings, and translucent polyester foil, blurring the boundary between architectural drawing and tactile object. True to the artists' practice of documenting unrealized projects, the work captures both the technical precision and poetic drama of their signature wrapping aesthetic.
