These six ancient Han Dynasty pottery vases, dating back over two thousand years, have been boldly transformed through the application of vivid industrial acrylic paint, their surfaces coated in striking contemporary colors. Ai Weiwei's intervention deliberately creates a tension between the irreplaceable historical significance of the artifacts and the jarring modernity of their new appearance.
