Untitled (Provincetown)
1967
This constructed wooden assemblage features three wooden spheres mounted on pedestals within individual compartments, housed beneath a pitched roof structure with applied metal hardware. The work exemplifies mid-twentieth-century assemblage art, combining found and crafted materials to create a domestic, house-like form. The weathered surfaces, visible wood grain, and patinated metal elements suggest themes of memory, collection, and domestic space. Created during the artist's time in Provincetown, the work reflects the experimental artistic practices flourishing in that Cape Cod artistic community during the 1960s.
