Stefan Bertalan

Stefan Bertalan (1930, 2014) was a Romanian artist associated with the Sigma Group in Timișoara, a collective that explored kinetic art, systems theory, and experimental visual research during the communist era. His practice engaged with scientific and mathematical principles, producing works that examined perception, movement, and the relationship between art and nature. Bertalan is regarded as a pioneering figure in Romanian conceptual and experimental art, whose work gained broader international recognition posthumously.
