Roberto Diago

Roberto Diago is a Cuban contemporary artist born in 1971 in Havana, the grandson of renowned Cuban painter Roberto Diago Querol. His work explores themes of Afro-Cuban identity, memory, social inequality, and the African diaspora through mixed media, painting, and installation, often incorporating found materials, burlap, and organic elements to reflect the textures of marginalized existence. Diago is recognized as one of the most significant voices in contemporary Cuban art, with his raw, emotionally charged works addressing race, spirituality, and the struggles of Afro-descendant communities.
