Paolo Scheggi (1940, 1971) was an Italian artist associated with the Arte Programmata and Optical Art movements, known for his innovative 'Intersuperfici' (Inter-surfaces) series of three-dimensional relief works made from layered, perforated acrylic or canvas panels that create shifting spatial and optical effects. Working primarily in Milan, he was a key figure in the Italian avant-garde scene of the 1960s and collaborated with galleries and intellectuals who were exploring the boundaries of perception and materiality. Despite his tragically short life, his work is considered highly significant within the context of postwar European art and continues to be exhibited and collected internationally.
