Mariano Alonso Pérez y Villagrosa (1857, 1930) was a Spanish academic painter celebrated for his luminous depictions of Moorish and Orientalist interiors, elegant genre scenes, and historical subjects set in Andalusian and North African settings. Trained at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid, he was a pupil of Francisco Pradilla and became renowned for his meticulous attention to architectural detail, richly costumed figures, and masterful handling of light filtering through latticed screens.
