Jef Verheyen

Jef Verheyen (1932, 1984) was a Belgian painter associated with the ZERO movement and Nouveau Réalisme, known for his luminous, monochromatic canvases that explore the relationship between color, light, and space. His work, characterized by subtle gradations and radiant fields of color, sought to transcend material reality and evoke a meditative, spiritual experience. Verheyen was a central figure in the European avant-garde of the 1960s and maintained close ties with artists such as Yves Klein and the international ZERO network.
