Herb Greene (born 1929) is an American architect, artist, and theorist known for his highly expressive, organic architectural designs and his deeply philosophical paintings. His architectural work, including the famous Prairie Chicken House in Oklahoma (1961), blends surrealist imagery with organic forms, drawing on the ideas of his mentor Bruce Goff. As a painter, Greene creates densely layered figurative and symbolic works that explore consciousness, perception, and the human condition, informed by his extensive writings on art theory and cognitive science.
