Gottfried Wals, also known as Goffredo Wals or Goffredo Tedesco, was a German painter who spent most of his career in Italy during the early 17th century. He is best known as an early master of landscape painting and is notable for having been a teacher of Claude Lorrain. His intimate small-scale landscapes were influential in shaping the development of the Italianate landscape tradition.
