Erté (born Romain de Tirtoff) was a Russian-born French artist and designer who became one of the most influential figures in Art Deco, renowned for his extravagant costume designs, fashion illustrations, and stage sets for the Folies Bergère and Metropolitan Opera. His elegantly stylized works appeared on over 200 Harper's Bazaar covers and epitomized the glamour and sophistication of the 1920s and 1930s. His legacy includes sculptures, prints, and designs that continue to define the visual language of the Art Deco movement.
