Barend Cornelis Koekkoek (1803, 1862) was a celebrated Dutch landscape painter renowned for his meticulously detailed and atmospheric depictions of forests, rivers, and winter scenes, often inspired by the Rhine region and Dutch countryside. He studied under his father Johannes Hermanus Koekkoek and later at the Amsterdam Royal Academy, eventually settling in Cleves, Germany, where he founded a drawing academy. His works commanded high prices during his lifetime and continue to achieve strong results at major auction houses including Christie's, Sotheby's, and Dorothea Fischer.
