Le Peintre et son Modéle (Bloch 1194)
This 1965 linocut by Picasso depicts the enduring theme of an artist with his model, rendered in bold graphic forms characteristic of his late printmaking practice. The work exemplifies Picasso's continued engagement with the relationship between artist and subject, translated into the high contrast and expressive line work inherent to the linocut medium. Limited to an edition of 160 impressions and printed on Arches paper by the renowned Vallauris workshop Arnéra, the print measures 615 by 745 millimeters and represents a significant example of Picasso's prolific output in printmaking during the final decade of his life.
