Gillian Ayres — Someday (Cristea 26)
Gillian Ayres

Someday (Cristea 26)

"Someday (Cristea 26)" is a large scale color print created by Gillian Ayres in 2010 using the complex combined technique of sugar lift aquatint and etching with carborundum, further enriched through extensive hand coloring in acrylic. This printer's proof represents one of only two impressions outside the edition of 20, meticulously printed and hand finished by Jack Shirreff at 107 Workshop before being published by Alan Cristea Gallery in London. The monumental work measures over 42 inches square and exemplifies Ayres' characteristic approach to color and abstraction, combining traditional printmaking processes with gestural painterly intervention.
