"Untitled" (Cold Blue Snow)
1988
This work presents a photograph of snow covered landscape printed on paper and dissembled into interlocking puzzle pieces, then housed in a clear plastic bag. The monochromatic composition depicts rolling, textured terrain in shades of white, gray, and taupe, with a single vivid red element punctuating the otherwise neutral palette. The puzzle format fragments the continuous image into geometric units, creating a tension between the unified photographic vista and its deliberate disassembly. The material choice and presentation transform a recognizable landscape into an object of material fragility and incompletion.
