Meryl and Jonathan, from Men in the Cities
Two large-scale charcoal and graphite drawings depict figures in dynamic, contorted poses against stark white backgrounds, capturing the tension and energy of urban life in the early 1980s. Meryl and Jonathan are rendered with hyperrealistic precision, their bodies twisting and arching as if caught in a moment of ecstatic movement or violent impact. Part of Longo's iconic *Men in the Cities* series, these works exemplify his exploration of power, desire, and the psychological undercurrents of contemporary society.
