Theo Meier (1908, 1982) was a Swiss Post-Impressionist painter celebrated for his vibrant depictions of life in Bali and Thailand, where he spent much of his adult life immersed in local culture and landscape. His richly colored canvases capture Southeast Asian figures, rituals, and tropical scenery with an expressive, sensuous quality rooted in the tradition of Gauguin. Meier became one of the most significant Western artists to settle in the region, and his works are regularly sought after in Asian and European auction markets.
