Steven van der Meulen was a Flemish portrait painter active in England during the mid-sixteenth century, known for his refined and dignified depictions of Elizabethan-era nobility and courtiers. He is believed to have been a pupil or follower of the renowned portraitist Anthonis Mor, and his work reflects the formal, restrained style characteristic of Northern European court portraiture of the period. Van der Meulen is documented as working in England from around 1560, where he gained patronage among the English aristocracy before his death circa 1564.
