Romare Howard Bearden

Romare Howard Bearden was an American artist, author, and songwriter renowned for his vibrant collages depicting African American life and culture. He worked across multiple media including oils, cartoons, and collages, becoming one of the most celebrated visual artists of the 20th century. Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, he grew up in New York City and Pittsburgh before graduating from New York University in 1935.
