Prabhakar Barwe was a pioneering figure in Modern Indian painting, active in Mumbai from 1959 until his death in 1995. Deeply influenced by the esoteric tradition of Tantric painting, he became a key member of the Neo-Tantra modernist movement alongside artists such as G. R. Santosh and K.C.S. Paniker. His work bridged ancient spiritual symbolism with contemporary abstract expression.
