Spero created scrolls, installations, and prints featuring female figures from ancient and contemporary sources to address war, feminism, and mythology. Her Neo-Expressionist visual language combined text and image in works held by MoMA, Tate, and Centre Pompidou. Her activist practice and innovative formats made her a pioneering feminist artist.
