Mira Schendel

Painter and sculptor whose minimal works on rice paper, suspended thread installations, and acrylic paintings explored language, spirituality, and materiality. Her "Graphic Objects" series of twisted rice paper and her Droguinhas installations established her as a key figure in Brazilian modernism. Tate Modern held a major retrospective and her work is collected internationally.
