Mel Chin

Mel Chin is a conceptual artist known for interdisciplinary works that address ecological and social issues through collaboration with scientists, communities, and institutions. His project "Revival Field" (1991-ongoing) pioneered the use of hyperaccumulator plants to remove heavy metals from contaminated soil, demonstrating art's potential for ecological remediation. His work spans sculpture, installation, video, and social interventions, held by institutions including the Hirshhorn Museum, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Menil Collection.
