Louis Anquetin (1861, 1932) was a French Post-Impressionist painter who co-developed the Cloisonnism style alongside Émile Bernard, characterized by bold outlines and flat areas of color inspired by Japanese woodblock prints and stained glass. He was a close associate of Vincent van Gogh, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Paul Gauguin during his time in Paris, and later shifted toward a study of Old Masters, particularly Rubens. His works frequently appear at auction featuring Parisian street scenes, portraits, and figurative compositions.
