Karl Ballenberger

Karl Ballenberger (1801, 1860) was a German Romantic painter known for his genre scenes, historical subjects, and fairy-tale illustrations inspired by the works of the Brothers Grimm. He studied under Peter von Cornelius and was associated with the Munich school, producing intimate, narrative-driven works that blended sentimentality with meticulous detail. His paintings frequently appeared in 19th-century German collections and continue to surface at European auction houses.
