Joseph Havel is an American sculptor based in Houston, Texas, known for his poetic transformations of everyday materials such as fabric, clothing, and paper into large-scale bronze and mixed-media works. His practice explores themes of accumulation, weight, gravity, and the passage of time, often casting mundane objects like shirts or curtains to create monumental yet intimate forms. Havel has served as the longtime director of Glassell School of Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and his work is held in major public and private collections.
