John Morris is an Irish painter born in Dublin in 1958, best known for his plein-air oil paintings of the Irish countryside, coastline, and urban streetscapes. Primarily self-taught, he began painting in 1997 and initially took lessons from Irish landscape painters Brian Quinn and Trevor Geoghegan. His work is characterized by raw and vibrant brushwork, a strong sense of composition, and a focus on capturing the effects of light on water, figures, and landscapes. Morris has exhibited in more than fifty group and solo exhibitions across Ireland and the United Kingdom, including solo shows in London. His paintings are held in numerous private and institutional collections, among them the National Council for the Blind of Ireland, Aghadoe Heights Hotel in Killarney, and the Parknasilla Hotel Collection. He is represented by several prominent Irish galleries and continues to live and work in Ireland.
