Jack Smith (1932, 2012) was a British painter associated with the Kitchen Sink School, known for his gritty, realist depictions of everyday working-class life in post-war Britain. His early work featured domestic interiors and still lifes rendered in muted, earthy tones, before his practice evolved toward more abstract and geometric compositions in later decades. He was a significant figure in mid-20th century British art, exhibiting widely and winning the John Moores Painting Prize in 1957.
